Why do I need a career coach?
Life is too short to be unhappy at work; and if you are unhappy, chances are you aren’t as successful as you could be. Why not leverage your talents at a job that is interesting to you? Don’t shoe-horn your interests into traditional careers. Work with me and I’ll help you creatively integrate all of your interests and abilities into the ideal career for you.
How will working with you help me land a job?
According to Women For Hire: The Ultimate Guide to Getting a Job, the number one complaint from recruiters is applicants who say, “I’ll take anything.” Don’t let someone else sign you up for a job you don’t want. Working with me, you’ll determine the right career options for you based on your passions, interests, abilities and work preferences. We’ll focus your career search and design an effective job-hunting strategy to land the job you want.
Why should I work with you vs. going it alone?
Changing jobs is stressful. Minimize the stress (and time) involved by working with someone who’s experienced and certified in helping people find and land their ideal careers. Having someone who understands YOUR career needs and goals support you through the process will keep you on track and focused. You CAN find the right career for you and I’ll help you develop a strategic plan to get there ASAP.
Are you familiar with my line of work?
Your needs are unique. That is why I do a thorough assessment of your specific career needs and goals at the start of our work together. Using this approach, I’ve effectively helped people in diverse industries with varying levels of experience. My experience as a consultant and trainer have also provided me with experience and contacts in various fields and industries, thus helping me better understand your needs.
Do you work with entrepreneurs and people in companies?
Yes. I work with anyone who is looking to figure out the right career for them. Whether you want to work for yourself, for a large corporation, or somewhere in between, I can help you determine the right working environment for you.
How does one-on-one career coaching work?
Through exercises, worksheets and discussions, I take you through an approach of Soul Search, Research and Job Search. The approach involves nine-one hour sessions: identifying the elements of your ideal career, determining career options that integrate your elements, researching those options and devising an action plan to reach your ideal career. Sessions can be done by phone or in person, at a time and frequency that suit your needs.
What can I expect in a coaching session?
Depending on your stage of the approach, you complete customized exercises to be discussed during the session. Upon examining your responses to the exercises, I facilitate the session to discover your true needs and wants, the characteristics of your ideal career and the path to achieve your career goals. Upon completion of the session, I compile your results in your very own career guide. This guide serves as an essential reference for your current and future career decisions.
Can I do a test drive?
Yes. You start by filling out a brief career needs and goals questionnaire (see the Contact page of this website.) If after reviewing your needs and goals, I feel I can be of service, I will reach out to you via email with my specific recommendations for your situation. If you have any questions or concerns, a brief chat can be arranged so you can experience my coaching firsthand and get answers. If you’re ready to get started, a formal coaching session can be scheduled at my next available time.
How much does it cost?
Cost is dependent on what type of coaching your needs require. We discuss cost after I’ve had a chance to review your career needs and goals. Cost is per hour or may be discounted if hourly sessions are purchased in bulk.
How do I sign up?
Complete the brief career needs and goals questionnaire (see the Contact page of this website). If that is not possible or you are having trouble with the questionnaire, you can contact me via email (coaching@maggiemistal.com) to determine the steps you need to take to reach your ideal career.
